South Bend Cubs host first Chicago Cubs watch party
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Friday night, fans were socially distant from each other with hand sanitizing stations throughout Four Winds Field as they watched the Chicago Cubs play at Wrigley Field on the video board.
The South Bend Cubs plan to host more watch parties since fans aren't allowed to attend games at major league baseball stadiums.
The president of the team says it a perfect opportunity for those who really want to go to Wrigley Field but can't this season.
“You know, the opportunity to show the baseball game on the video board and get people to come back out to Four Winds Field is exciting. People want to get back outside and enjoy a nice night out...a couple of weeks ago we had movie night, we had a great turnout for that, so we figured hey, let’s show some of the Cubs games. You can’t go to Wrigley Field, so the next best thing is, hey come to Four Winds Field,” said Joe Hart, president of the South Bend Cubs.
