WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - The daycare worker who was on trial for causing a child’s fatal traumatic brain injury has been found guilty.

Courtney Kincaid was found guilty of aggravated battery and neglect, causing death, after two and half hours of deliberation by the jury.

Emma Grace Leeman was 11 months old when she died.

The Leemans were looking for Kincaid to accept responsibility for causing Emma Grace’s death so they could concentrate on being organ donor advocates, and the lives Emma Grace forever changed.

“Just the fact that we got it in and done, and can kind of start moving on from here is such a huge relief, and some sort of finality to it,” said Emma Grace’s father Nick Leeman.

“We are satisfied. You can’t stay angry forever, and you can’t hate forever, so we just want to concentrate on the sentencing hearing next; and then continue with organ donation, and visiting with Emma’s liver and heart recipients, and being a part of their families,” said Emma Grace’s mother Sherry Leeman.
