Community Rally in South Bend gives students school supplies
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A community rally in South Bend helped give students necessary supplies for the coming school year on Saturday.
The rally was at Howard Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Things like backpacks, masks and hand sanitizer were provided to parents and students.
This was an event that involved the collaboration of many community members, including the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball coaching staff and the South Bend Common Council.
“Since it’s close to school starting, at that time August 15th was the date, we wanted to ease people’s minds with having hand sanitizer and masks, at least to prepare them to get back to school,” Third District Councilwoman Sharon McBride said.
There were a number of vendors at the event, and providing resources for Census information and voter registration was also a part of the rally.
