SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) -Notre Dame Women's Basketball is back in town and will be out helping the community.

The team will be hosting a community rally at Howard Park on Saturday to give out school supplies including masks and hand sanitizer to Michiana kids.

New head coach Niele Ivey says she’s committed to helping the local community.

“I want to be active in the community,” Ivey said. “I want to be a positive role model in the community. I just wanted to make sure that I was helping in some way. I had some great advice and great collaborative efforts with some of the women of the South Bend community. I just felt like right now we need supplies. Everyone needs supplies. I just felt like it was a great opportunity to get out in the community and also just be a resource and to help and support everyone that’s going back to school.”

The rally runs from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Howard Park.

Masks and physical distancing are required.
