SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A private equity firm is purchasing AM General.

KPS Capital Partners is buying the military humvee maker, which is headquartered in South Bend and has manufacturing operations in Mishawaka.

Indiana Senator Todd Young says he’s spoke to AM General’s management and says this sale could be good for the local economy.

“I anticipate very little disruption in AM General’s operations based on the conversations that I’ve had with their leadership,” Sen. Young said. “I think this change in ownership will not result in a change in head count, certainly not in the near term. There could be some upside opportunity to the Northern Indiana region as a new owner comes in and considers additional investments.”

Right now, it isn’t clear how much it was sold for or what KPS plans to do with any local employees.
