It's severe weather season in Michiana, are you prepared?

A weather radio is a lot like a smoke detector. They can alert you at night from anything from tornados to chemical spills and nothing gets you the message faster.

Midland has offered their regular desktop weather radio for $29.99 for over seven years now. But this year, Midland introduced a portable weather radio, perfect to take on picnics and beach trips where severe weather can develop without much notice.

The portable weather radio has a home setting for home use, where it will alert you for the programmed single county code. It also has a travel setting, where it will scan for whatever transmitter is closest and notify you of alerts for that area.

The portable model sells at $39.99 but also comes with a rechargeable base.

Both models work in the United States and Canada. Midland will introduce a tri-lingual model that will be sold at Martin's later in the spring.
