Tuesday evening, Goshen Mayor Allan Kauffman declared a snow parking emergency. It restricts parking as follows:

-- Parking permitted only on even-numbered sides of streets on even days of the month (Tuesday, Thursday)
-- Parking permitted only on odd-numbered sides of streets on odd days of the month (Wednesday, Friday)
-- In ares where parking is restricted by a previous provision (such as a sign) on one side of the street, the snow emergency overrides that designated "no parking" provision for the length of the Parking Emergency.

The emergency parking rules will remain in effect until the city determines that snowy conditions no longer exist. Mayor Kauffman will then lift the restriction.

Emergency officials are urging drivers to stay off the roads as much as possible in Elkhart County due to heavy drifting and hazardous conditions.
