Rivers in a number of parts of the country are rising above flood stage, as a new rainstorm combines with snow melt to push water levels higher.
Flood warnings have been posted for parts of the Tennessee River. And the Mississippi River near New Orleans is approaching flood stage.
In New Jersey, The Passaic River remains above flood stage at Little Falls and Pine Brook, and motorists continue to face road closures in Paterson. No new major flooding is expected there, but the rain could drag the event into Friday.
And officials continue keeping close tabs on the swollen Ohio River and communities near where it links to the Mississippi. Significant flooding is already occurring in southern Illinois and neighboring Missouri, and could worsen in the next week.
