Rain and freezing rain have brought the threat of flooding to southern Michigan and more hazardous driving conditions to the central Lower Peninsula.
The National Weather Service has issued flood advisories or flood watches for much of southern Michigan that were to remain in effect into Saturday. At the same time, the weather service says a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for some other parts of the state because of freezing rain.
Forecasters say some locations could see up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation. The freezing rain in the central Lower Peninsula was expected to change to snow.
The weather comes after treacherous ice-slickened roadways across the Detroit area caused numerous accidents Friday.
