Two lines of afternoon storms on Saturday knocked out power for thousands of customers across Michiana.

Reports of downed trees and power lines are numerous as powerful winds accompanying the storms swept through the area.

Nearly 2,000 AEP customers in LaPorte County and well over 1,000 in Michigan are without power at this time. Customer outages in St. Joseph County are nearing 800.

About 3,000 customers of the Midwest Power Cooperative were without power around 7:00 p.m., only 800 still remain.
