Storm season is upon us, which means you need to start getting prepared. One of the best tools to use is a weather radio.
StormTeam 16’s Mike Hoffman and Cindi Clawson were in Nappanee Saturday morning with the National Weather Service to help people program their weather radios.
The radios will alert you when severe weather is happening in our area, and it could be enough to save your life.
“The key to this is to get information as quickly as we humanly can. When we issue a warning, the radio goes off, the siren sounds, people wake up, they make the decision to save their life. That's what we're all about,” said Michael Lewis of the National Weather Service.
If you didn't make it out on Saturday, there are still two more days coming up. Any radio can be brought it for programming on June 19th at the Martin's Supermarket in St. Joseph, Michigan and on June 26th at the Martin's in Mishawaka and in Plymouth.
