Meteor shower visible this weekend

If you have never witnessed a meteor shower, this one is a great start that just might get you hooked! Imagine seeing a shooting star every minute as you gaze up into the sky. That's what is expected with this year's shower. As long as the clouds stay away from Michiana late Sunday night, you may be able to see 60 to 100 meteors per hour!

Here's what you need to know to get the best out of the skyshow. While meteors will be visible as soon as the sun goes down, the peak of the shower, when the most meteors can be seen, will be well into the overnight, between 2AM and 5AM. Basically, all you have to do is go outside and look up, since the meteors will be visible across most of the sky, but facing northeast may help you see a few more.

It is best to be away from city lights if possible, since a dark sky will allow you to see even more meteors. The moon will be in the new phase, so you won't have to worry about bright moonlight spoiling the view.
