Thousands lose power in SW Michigan after overnight storm

Strong storms hit Southwest Michigan Monday night, taking down trees and street signs and knocking out power to thousands.

At one point, Midwest Energy Cooperative had 7,000 customers in the dark. AEP had around 2,400 people in our viewing area without power.

Those numbers are improving as crews work to bring everyone back online; but officials say it may be 24 hours until all power is restored.
