7th victim dies of injuries from New Year's Eve tornadoes

Shaken residents have been spending New Year's Day sifting through the wreckage brought by tornadoes that touched down in parts of the central and southern United Statesa on the last day of 2010.

The twisters, fueled by unusually warm air, left seven dead in their wake.

Six of the victims - three in Missouri and three in Arkansas - died yesterday. A seventh victim in Missouri died today.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon spent New Year's Day touring damage from the storms. Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe has declared two counties in his state disaster areas.

Severe storms, including possible tornadoes, also ripped through central Mississippi on New Year's Eve. Emergency teams have beeen working today to survey the damage. The National Weather Service in Jackson reports at least three people hurt and extensive structural damage. No one was killed.
