Michiana residents get help programming weather radios

WNDU's Cindy Clawson and Mike Hoffman were at the Walgreens in St. Joe and Mishawaka on Saturday, talking about weather radios.

Folks came out for advice on how to program the radios, and use them correctly.

Weather radios provide instant warnings about severe weather, but they also provide warnings for other types of emergencies.

"It's now referred to all hazard radio because it's not just about weather. If there's a hazardous spill on the Toll Road and they want to alert that county that there's a leak, they can do that on the weather radio," explains Bruce Jones of Midland Radio Corp.

The radios are still available at area Walgreens stores for a reduced price.

And for information on how to use them, just visit the weather page, or click on the Big Red Bar.
