You’ve probably heard our weather radio promotion over the last few weeks. If you didn’t already have a weather radio in your home, hopefully you have had a chance to get one.

Every home should have a weather radio, since you’re not always watching TV, and the weather radio will alert you when severe weather is occurring in your area.

The radios are pretty easy to program. Instructions are included in the box. You will just need to tune it to the channel that comes in the best, and then program in the counties you want to be warned for. Those county codes are listed here.

Midland Radio, the manufacturer of these radios, also has a training video on their website. To watch that video, click here.

If you need assistance programming your radio, we have another programming day coming up. Representatives from the National Weather Service, Emergency Managers from St. Joseph, Marshall, Berrien and Cass (MI) Counties, along with volunteers from Skywarn, RACES, and amateur radio groups will be on hand to help. Any weather radio can be brought in for programming.

The date and locations are as follows:

July 11, 2009 7am - Noon

Location #1 Walgreens, 110 E. McKinley Ave. in Mishawaka (Corner of McKinley and Main)

Location #2 Walgreens, 1260 Hilltop St. in St. Joseph, MI (Corner of Niles and Hilltop)

Location #3 Walgreens, 2014 N. Michigan St. in Plymouth (South of US 30)

We will have a live TV crew at the Mishawaka and St. Joseph locations from 7am till 10am. StormTeam 16’s Mike Hoffman and Cindi Clawson will each be at one of the stores.
