The body of a rural Minnesota man reported missing late last week has been found in the Red River.

Polk County Sheriff's officials said Monday that the death is directly related to recent flooding in the area.

Authorities say it appears 58-year-old Harold M. Hofer of Climax tried to drive on a road that was flooded by the Red River last week.

The water has since gone down, and the pickup truck Hofer was driving was found Sunday about 30 yards from the road.

His body was recovered Sunday evening, just a half-mile from his house. Autopsy results are pending.
