A storm heading to Michigan could bring up to six inches of heavy, wet snow to parts of the western and northwest Lower Peninsula.
Up to nine inches of snow was possible Sunday in the central and eastern Upper Peninsula.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning until 6 p.m. Sunday for the northwest Lower Peninsula. Six to eight inches of wet, heavy snow was possible in communities including Traverse City, Cheboygan and Cadillac.
A winter storm warning also was issued for the north central and northeastern Lower Peninsula. Two to four inches of mixed snow, sleet and freezing rain were possible in that region.
Rain and scattered thunderstorms were forecast in the southern two-thirds of Lower Michigan.
