There's no more hurricane watch for parts of northern Florida and Georgia. But a tropical storm warning has been extended, covering an area from Fort Pierce, Florida, to Georgia's coastal southeast.

Tropical Storm Fay continues to plod up the Florida peninsula.

At 11 a.m. Eastern time, Fay was near Cape Canaveral. Its maximum sustained winds were about 50 miles-per-hour and it was moving north at about 3 miles an hour.

The storm could dump up to 20 inches of rain in some areas.

Forecasters had originally expected Fay to get a dose of energy when it moved over the ocean and possibly become a hurricane. But the storm's center remains just inland.

There are no new reports of damage and only minor street flooding in the Melbourne area, where Fay is predicted to dump a total of 6 to 12 inches of rain.
