Temperatures, wind chills dip far below zero in upper Midwest
A wind chill warning is in effect for all of North Dakota. High temperatures aren't expected to get above zero anywhere in the state today and winds are gusting up to more than 40 miles per hour. Forecasters in the upper Midwest are warning of "life-threatening" conditions during a bitter arctic cold snap over the next two days.
A wind chill warning is in effect for all of North Dakota. High temperatures aren't expected to get above zero anywhere in the state today and winds are gusting up to more than 40 miles per hour. The National Weather Service says the overnight wind chill in Garrison, North Dakota, dropped to 54 below zero.
Minnesota is also feeling the winter chill. Temperatures are expected to plummet to as low as 25 below in parts of the state.
Forecasters predict the bitter cold will move out by Thursday, but one meteorologist warns that the next 30 days will be colder than average with many snowstorms in the region.
