People in England are being allowed back into their homes after the peak of a powerful storm passed. There's no major damage reported.
The North Sea storm sent waves up to 20 feet high crashing into sea defenses in Lowestoft, the most eastern point of Britain. Police in Norfolk say rising water had breached the flood defenses in the town center.
In the Netherlands, Rotterdam Port is halting all ship traffic until this evening. The country's flood alarm agency warns that sea levels were expected to climb 13 feet above normal in a far northern city.
The storm did not hit Germany as hard as expected last night. Still, forecasters are expecting a storm surge, and the port of Hamburg is closed.
