At least six deaths are being blamed on severe weather that's spread from Washington state to Florida.

Three of the deaths occurred in Michigan. One man was killed when winds collapsed his home around him. A man and a woman were found dead after their home was knocked off its foundation into a pond.

But a baby is OK after being tossed about 40 feet in its crib as a tornado destroyed a home.

A neighbor found the baby under a pile of debris, still in the crib. As a firefighter put it, "Sometimes miracles happen."

In northeastern Missouri, two people were killed when a tornado demolished a mobile home. The state Highway Patrol says the home's frame was found three-quarters of a mile away, with debris as far as two miles away.

One death occurred in Washington state.
