Tornadoes, strong winds and oversized hail pushed through much of Michigan overnight, overturning vehicles, destroying homes and leaving at least one person dead.

In Kalkaska County, authorities say a 29-year-old man was killed after a suspected tornado took down the house around him.

National Weather Service officials from around the state reported severe weather, including possible tornadoes in Kalkaska, Cheboygan, Alpena and Mio. In Williamston, near Lansing, wind gusts approaching 60 mph damaged homes, downed trees and power lines and flipped a semi-truck traveling along Interstate 96.

The weather service also reported wind damage in Saginaw County and 1-inch hail in Midland.
