The SJRMC Diabetes Resource Center offers a full range of services for diabetes care. Led by an interdisciplinary team, the Resource Center is designed to give those with diabetes the knowledge and confidence they need to manage their disease on a day-to-day basis.

The ‘Taking Charge of Your Diabetes’ class is designed to provide complete education and self management skills for individuals with Type I and Type II diabetes. It is recommended for individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes, and those not previously educated in diabetes care. Class topics include: what is diabetes; self-monitoring of blood glucose; role of exercise in decreasing blood glucose levels; medications; sick-day management; meal planning and daily dining challenges; as well as how to avoid complications.

A physician’s order is required to attend these classes, and registration must occur prior to the start of the series. ** The fee for this class is covered by most insurance and Medicare.
