2nd Annual ND-LEEF Science Sunday

St. Patrick’s County Park: ND LEEF Site, South Bend, IN
Come learn about the current research at the Notre Dame Linked Experimental Ecosystem Facility (ND-LEEF). Scientists will be on-site to discuss their research and answer your questions and there will also be hands-on exhibits for kids. Complimentary light

Studebaker Trees Volunteer Clean-up Day

Bendix Woods County Park: Nature Center New Carlisle, IN
Help us preserve the historic Studebaker Trees! We will be cutting vines, shrubs and small trees within the letters. Please wear long pants, sturdy shoes and a long-sleeved shirt. Also, bring a pair of gloves. If you wish to stay for the entire day, bring a lunch.

Father and Son Archery

Make your own scarecrow and hayride

Bendix Woods County Park, New Carlisle, IN
Fee: $15/family
Welcome the fall season with a hayride and build your own scarecrow! We will provide all the supplies for making your special scarecrow, but participants are welcome to bring their own unique outfits, hats and accessories. (One scarecrow per family, please.) Wednesday Walking Club

St. Patrick's County Park: Brown Barn, South Bend, IN
Fee $18/person for 6 sessions
Ages: 50 and older
Boomers! Meet other people who are interested in walking for fitness! We'll walk the scenic park trails. Each walk will be approximately 40 minutes, followed by brain-boosting paper and pencil activities form Memorial BrainWorks. Boost your health and wellness! Ringing of the Bell Ceremony

St. Patrick's County Park: Freedom Memorial, South Bend, IN
Clay Fire Territory will perform a Ringing of the Bell ceremony at the Freedom Memorial, at this 13th anniversary remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001. The Freedom Memorial includes a sculpture entitled “Standing Tall” and a section of a steel beam from Ground Zero in New York City.

Tai Chi by the Pond

Ferrettie-Baugo Creek County Park: Moat Room, Osceola, IN
Join a certified “Tai Chi for Health Institute” instructor for Seated Tai Chi by the pond. All movements will be from a seated position and are ideal for those with limited mobility or that prefer not to stand for long periods. Tai Chi emphasizes gentle motions to benefit your health. Grandparents Day at the Park

Make a day of it with your grandkids! Celebrate National Grandparents Day and the important role grandparents play in our children's lives. Stop by the Brown Barn for a craft, bring a picnic, enjoy a hike, paddle on the pond, play at the playground, and most importantly enjoy quality time together. Craft supplies are limited. No registration required. Gate fee of $3/in county and $4/out of county will be in effect.
