Yoga in the Gardens

Wellfield Botanic Gardens Elkhart, IN
Experience the tranquility of a relaxing hour of yoga amongst beautiful blooms and gentle waterfalls. Beginning on June 14th Wellfield Botanic Gardens is offering weekly weekend yoga classes. June through September. Barbara Naranche from Tree of Life Yoga Studio is leading classes on Saturdays from 9:15am to 10:15am. Instructors from Ray of Light Holistic Health are leading classes on Sundays from 3:00pm to 4:15pm. Classes are open to all levels of experience. Classes are $7 per session for members and $10 per session for non-members. Bring a yoga mat or towel and dress comfortably. Please check Wellfield Botanic Gardens website in case of rain. Little Sprouts Cooking Class: Plant Parts Salad

It’s almost time for school to start. Are you looking for an end of the summer activity to do with your children? Bring them to Wellfield Botanic Gardens on Tuesday, August 5th at 11:00am for the Little Spouts Cooking Class. Children and their parents will create a plant parts salads, learning about plant parts, what is edible and healthy eating. This hands-on program allows children to prepare their own snack while making the connection about the origins for the food they eat. Participants should bring their own drink. Cost is $3/child. Garden to Table Series: Harvesting Your Garden

Are you interested in learning the value of seasonal food preparation? Come to the final session of the Garden to Table Series: Harvesting Your Garden. On Saturday August 2nd, at 11:00am Master Gardener Emma Wynn will lead us in a discussion on preparing food for the season, as well as, harvesting techniques and winter garden preparation. Participants will hve the opportunity to share recipes and sample some delicious in season dishes. Participants should meet under the education tent. Space is limited and registration is required. Family Drop-In Activities

Bring the family to Wellfield Botanic Gardens for fun with science on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from June to October. Children can discover the wonders of the gardens through hands-on exploration and crafts. There is a new adventure every month – learn about plant parts in June, have fun with water in July, worms in August, birds in September, and how lovely leaves are in October. Garden to Table Series

Wellfield Botanic Gardens, Elkhart, IN
Are you interested in starting a vegetable garden but aren’t sure where to begin? You can learn gardening at the Garden to Table Series at Wellfield Botanic Gardens. In this three part series, participants will learn how to plan and prepare their own vegetable garden using organic techniques and the importance of seasonal food preparation. The first session “Preparing Your Garden” is on Saturday May 3rd at 11:00. WBG Horticulture Manager Josh Steffen will lead participants in planning their own vegetable garden using square foot gardening. Josh will also discuss garden starting essentials such as seed starting and soil preparation. The second session “Caring for Your Garden” is on Saturday June 7th and the third session “Harvesting Your Garden” is on August 2nd. Participants should meet under the education tent. Space is limited and registration is required. The session is $10/members and $15/non-members. Sign up for all three sessions for $22/members and $35/members. Stories in the Garden

Wellfield Botanic Gardens Elkhart, IN
Join the staff from the Elkhart Public Library as they bring stories to life! Wellfield Botanic Gardens presents Stories in the Garden every third Tuesday of the month from May to October at 6:00pm. Stories in the Garden will begin on May 20th and continue on June 24th (the 4th Tuesday in June), July 15th, August 19th, September 16th and October 21st. Bring the family out to spend a lovely summer evening in the Gardens, enjoying story time and the beautiful surroundings. Gather in the English Cottage Garden (in case of rain we will meet in the tented area). Bring a cozy blanket to sit on. No registration necessary for this free program, open to all ages.
