Come enjoy the taste of local wild game. Venison, fish, squirrel, pheasant and other local game. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Walkerton American Legion Post 189. Monies from this event go to help veterans, their families, and the community at large. There will be some of the best tasting area game along with raffles, tip boards, and door prizes.

A 50’s Diner meal and silent auction is planned for Sunday, September 28th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bristol United Methodist Church, 201 S Division St, Bristol IN to help raise money for two local families who need our support. Come on out and enjoy a hamburger, fries and milkshake and bid on some great silent auction items while supporting Ava King and Andria Conners. Ava King, an 8 month old, recently had open heart surgery at Riley’s Children Hospital and spent weeks in the ICU. She is recovering well and is back at home, however her parents, Bobby & Khyrs King, are left with many medical bills. Andria Conners was born in June at 28 weeks weighing 1 lb, 3 oz. She spent her first three months of life at St. Joseph Regional receiving very specialized care. She is now home doing well. Her parents, Ryan & Cati Conners, are also dealing with a mountain of medical bills. If you would like to make a donation please contact Bristol UMC at 574-848-4031.

LoveWay’s 20th annual trail ride fundraiser is Saturday, October 11th 2014 with the Lead Off time at 10 AM. A minimum of $35 is required to register. Have your friends, family, or co-workers sponsor you to ride! Come early and enjoy a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Elkhart Exchange Club that will be open to all guests from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. Also, LoveWay will be holding a Family Fall Frolic for kids ages 3 to 12, from 10am to 2pm, the Frolic will include plenty of fun activities: carnival games, food, and entertainment. The Fall Frolic will have a $5 entry fee that includes lunch & unlimited access to games, pony rides, etc. The event is open to the public so feel free to bring your kids, friends, or family!

16th Annual Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer Run/Walk

The Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer Run/Walk is held annually by Ovar’coming Together to raise funds to help fulfill the organization’s mission of creating awareness, supporting ovarian cancer survivors and caregivers, and funding ovarian cancer research to celebrate, remember and honor women affected by ovarian cancer.
Event festivities include entertainment, guest speakers, a TEAL Market, a special Survivors Tent, educational booths and more! The event always takes place on the last Saturday of each September to wrap up Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis, Michiana

Beutter Park, Mishawaka
Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis is a 2 mile walk and celebration for the steps taken to find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Nationally, Take Steps is CCFA's largest fundraising event and the nation's only walk program dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Participants raise funds throughout the year come together to celebrate the steps taken towards the time when no American has to suffer with digestive diseases and Crohn's or colitis. A cure is within our reach yet we still need you.
Registration for the walk is open at or by contacting the CCFA office at 317-259-8071. There is no minimum or registration fee to participate but we ask everyone fundraise to the best of their ability. All walkers that raise $100 will receive an event t-shirt.

Fit 4 Fall 5K Run/Walk

Riverview Park, St. Joseph, MI
The Fit 4 Fall 5K Run/Walk raises funds to support Hospice at Home, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism in Southwest Michigan. The race takes runners and walkers through Riverview Park’s scenic trails and wooded terrain. Chip timing will be used to determine winners for age divisions, and medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

Pre-registration is encouraged at, as the first 500 registrants will receive Fit 4 Fall 5K shirts and goody bags.;

-Long sleeve technical race shirts for runners pre-registered before October 27.
-Computerized chip timing by T&H Timing. Split times at every mile.
-Flat and fast course with very few turns and intersections.
-All race proceeds go to the United Way of Porter County's high school council, the Power of Youth. Recognizing the teen self-esteem epidemic, the council funds community youth self-esteem programs.
