The Bridgman Gus Macker committee announces your time to register has not run out! Gus Macker has extended the deadline to register for the July 14th & 15th event until July 5, 2012 at midnight. Registration can be done online only at Teams of 4 are $100 for 18 and under and $128 for 19 and up.
The Gus Macker event is just part of a jammed packed weekend planned for the second weekend in July in Bridgman. The Celebrate Bridgman event kicks off on Thursday July 12th with Sidewalk Sales in downtown Bridgman, Curious Kids Show at 1:00 under the big top and a Teen Dance under the Big Top off of Lake Street in the city parking lot, followed by more Sidewalk Sales on Friday and Saturday, the Fireman’s Street Dance on Friday and Saturday nights, American Legion Pancake Breakfast both Saturday and Sunday, Sand Sculpture contest at Weko Beach on Saturday morning, 5K walk/run Saturday, Red Arrow Car Show on Saturday, Farmers Market, Craft show, Parade and more! The Humane Society of Elkhart County is hosting their 4th annual PET FEST (A Day to Honor Your Pets and the Animals that Remain Homeless) on Saturday, August 18. The schedule of events includes registration and pet party favor give away starting at 11:00 am.

There is a group pet blessing and Homeless Animal Day Memorial Ceremony at 11:45 am followed by pet games including Dogs Dunking for Dogs at 12:00 pm (dogs will dunk for hot dogs in water pool), Musical Hoops at 12:30 pm (similar to musical chairs) and a Canine/Human Water Relay at 1:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded to all winners.

The pet parade will begin at 1:30 pm. There will be a contest during the parade for cutest costume, owner/pet look-a-like and most unusual pet. Prizes will be awarded to all winners.

Other activities include an on-leash agility course and demonstrations by Planet Canine, pet photos by Kristin McKibbin, pet related vendors, raffles and free refreshments for humans and animals.

The shelter will be open for adoptions and will offer adopt one, get a companion animal for free. Adoption specials include 50% off cats and dogs 5 years old or younger and 75% off cats and dogs over 5 years old.

Dogs for Dollar$ and Kona Ice will sell additional refreshments. Don Kilgren and the SL4 Band will provide musical entertainment. The Red Barn Resale Shop will be open with a 25% discount on all purchases.

Benton Harbor, Michigan— July 23, 2012 —“Plans are in the final stages for the 2nd Annual Harbor Vision Festival (HVF), and this year’s presentation will be even better than last year’s,” stated festival organizer, Iris Bowman- Watts. Located in downtown Benton Harbor at the Dwight P. Mitchell City Center, Harbor Vision Festival is a FREE two day celebration that focuses on Education, Entertainment and Empowerment.
Hosted by the Harbor Vision Committee, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, all day fun in the park includes bouncers for the kids and encore activities such as: Zumba Dance Party; Harbor Vision Kidz Talent Showcase, Curious Kids, BrunsonHill Arthouse and Citadel Instrument Petting Zoo. Young Eagles Aviation, Sarrett Nature Center and Squiggles and Smaxy the Clowns will also be on hand. Lakeland HealthCare will be onsite to provide blood pressure screenings and offer literature on knowing the signs of Stroke. In partnership with [The] Berrien County Health Department and Harbor Town Sales, there will be viewings and facilitated dialogue of the documentary Unnatural Causes.
Saturday Evening will feature: Jazz Saxophonist, Erik Fisher; Johnnie Edwards and Friends, and P.O.E.T.- Melinda Powell. Gospel Sunday is from 4- 8p.m. with uplifting, inspirational music from local churches and Trachead Entertainment with Andre Isom.
Back by popular demand, food vendors include: Chicken Shack Express, Air Wings Express and Betsy Best Ice Cream.

Free transportation to and from the City Center is provided by Curious Kids and Dial-A-Ride. Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
Free shuttle (Dial-a-Ride bus I & bus II) pick-up will operate from 1pm-4:30pm Saturday, August 11th from these locations to the City Center Park : Berrien Homes office, Countryview office, Cogic Village office, Blossom Acres, Buss Apartments, Nate Wells/Edwards Center office, Emergency Shelter, Benton Harbor Street Ministry, Salvation Army Office and River Terrance Office.

About Harbor Vision Festival:
The Harbor Vision Festival (HFV) is an annual community event that celebrates the people, highlights the area’s rich resources, and supports new opportunities of economic prosperity, while promoting the vision of unity and diversity in its truest sense. The three tenants of goal delivery for the HVF are education, entertainment and empowerment/ economic development.
The Harbor Vision group is the result of collaborative communication started on a Facebook forum (Benton Harbor Vision) to discuss ways for ordinary citizens and stakeholders of the Benton Harbor community to make extraordinary positive impact for the greater good of the community. The Benton Harbor Vision Forum is made up of 375 diverse, actions -oriented, progressive thought leaders. The dialogue in this forum focuses on forming partnerships to leverage resources, support each other’s work efforts, and advocate and promote all of the great things that are and can occur in our community. Community volunteers from the Harbor Vision group provide the administrative and operational structure of the Harbor Vision Festival committee. This committee executes the successful delivery of the Harbor Vision Festival.

Vendors needed for New Carlisle Hometown Days. New Carlisle is still accepting vendor applications for crafts, food and commercial exhibits. The deadline is July 13.

New Carlisle Hometown Days is Eastern Time from 3-8pm Friday July 24; 10am to 8 pm Saturday July 25; and 10am to 4pm Sunday July 26 at Memorial Park in downtown New Carlisle.
The annual parade will b e at 11am Saturday July 25 along US 20. If you would like to have an entry in the parade, please contact Kim Vaundry at 574-654-3484. The deadline is July 18.
The annual New Carlisle Hometown Days event features food crafts, commercial vendors, entertainment, and amusement rides for young children. Parking is free.
