We are residents of Bristol and volunteers for Both Ends Burning, a non-profit advocacy organization that promotes adoption as a solution for children without parents. We exist to create a culture of adoption and to facilitate changes in the current system. Adoption can service as a champion for human potential, and as a responsible society we should be encouraging and promoting the practice of adoption. More than 10 million children are stuck in orphanages around the world, and there are many people - like ourselves - who are eager to adoption those children. (We are currently trying to adopt a boy from Ethiopia).
Both Ends Burning (BEB) has produced the heartwarming documentary STUCK. This film reveals the problems with the current international adoption system that often prevents those kids from finding a home with loving parents.
On Saturday, April 5, we are hosting a free community showing of this documentary at the Elkhart County Historical Museum in Bristol. This is a high profile event that involves the media, congressional representatives and educators from our local community. Following the movie, we have guest speakers, author Kim de Blecourt and BEB representative Dawn Stark.
BEB's efforts needs the partnership of families, politicians, religious organizations and the business community in order to be successful and build a movement for change. As adoptive parents, we are honored to find a way to support international adoption and raise awareness for the cause in our city.
