Free music downloads -- and they're legal. That's what Qtrax promises.
The company says it has now signed up the last of the four major music labels and will relaunch next month. Qtrax tried to take off last year, but it didn't have all its legal ducks in a row.
Qtrax officials admit it was an embarrassing and premature launch. The service will be supported by ads.
Qtrax says individual tracks will be protected to prevent copying, but they can be transferred to a user's portable music player. But Qtrax says the service won't be compatible with iPods out of the box.
