The European Union is taking steps to control the bullying and abuse of teenagers online.

It has gotten the online sites Facebook, MySpace and Google to help protect young people from abusive behavior.

The EU agreement gets the sites to provide a "report abuse" button.

The site operators also must make sure online profiles and contact lists of underage users are set to the highest privacy settings.

Similar agreements already have been signed between networking sites and authorities in the United States.
