It's an interesting partnership between Netflix and LG Electronics -- one aimed at finding another way to get movies into your home without sending DVDs through the mail.
LG will start selling high-definition TV sets that allow users to stream Netflix videos directly from the Internet, without needing some kind of converter box. It's the first time Netflix video-streaming service has come standard with a TV set.
Netflix currently offers about 12,000 movies and TV shows for instant streaming over the Internet. The streaming plan doesn't cost extra, if you pay at least $9 per month for a DVD rental plan. The movies can be watched on a computer or sent to a TV set using a converter box hitched to your set, or through other devices compatible with the streaming service.
LG says the broadband-equipped TVs will retail for about $200 to $300 more than a regular HD set.
