Now there's a place to go for older issues of magazines other than the waiting room of your doctor's or dentist's office.

Google is making digital copies of more than one million articles that first hit newsstands decades ago.

Dozens of magazine publishers have agreed to let Google index their archives. In return, Google will link to the Web site of the participating magazine publisher and Google will also share some of the money to be generated from ads.

Among the magazines now available through Google include back issues of New York Magazine, Popular Mechanics and Ebony.

For now, anyway, the magazines can be accessed through Google's service for finding digital copies of books. Eventually though, magazines can be searched separately.
