It may be the 50th state, but when it comes to the digital TV rollout Hawaii is number one. And that may turn out to be a problem, based on what state officials are saying.

The state will be going through the switchover on January 15th; that's nearly a full month before the rest of the nation. But residents seem to be taking their sweet time getting ready for the change.

Lieutenant governor James Aiona says only about a quarter of residents who have asked for the $40 coupons to buy digital converter boxes have redeemed them.

Without converter boxes, those who get their TV signals over the air won't be able to watch once stations in Hawaii cut off their analog signals.
