A new music Web site gives you credit for recognizing a good song before everyone else.
Popcuts charges users 99 cents per song. Whenever anyone buys that same song after that, those who already bought it get paid in credit that can be redeemed for more songs on Popcuts.
The earlier you buy a song, the larger your cut of future sales. Site co-founder Hannes Hesse says it's an extra incentive to buy a song legally, since it gives users an owner's stake in the song.
The site only has about 700 songs right now, but Popcuts is working on that. Popcuts hopes to eventually pay users in cash as well as in credits.
