You've probably heard about that program called “Clear” that allows you to get a pass to scoot ahead of others at airport security lines. Well, if you signed up for it, it's possible that your information might have fallen into the wrong hands.
Investigators now say a laptop computer that contained personal information from some 33,000 travelers was probably stolen and returned, not just misplaced.
The Transportation Security Administration announced last week that it was suspending new enrollments into the Clear program after the computer disappeared. The day after the TSA announcement, the laptop reappeared in a locked cabinet in the same office.
At first the company that runs the Clear program said it didn't know if the computer was stolen, or just overlooked. Now, investigators are treating the disappearance as a theft.
