It was apparently a hoax. But a New York man is in real trouble for claiming he had poisoned millions of containers of baby food.
Authorities say Anton Dunn claimed in a series of hoax Internet videos that he had tainted Gerber baby food with cyanide or rat poison, because he wanted to kill black and Hispanic children.
Dunn is charged with sending threats in interstate commerce and falsely claiming to have tampered with a consumer product. Those crimes carry a possible penalty of 10 years in prison, if he's convicted.
Both Gerber and the Food and Drug Administration say they have found no evidence of anyone tampering with Gerber products. The FDA says the company was flooded with complaints after people saw the videos, which were posted on YouTube.
