So, are you into electronic books? Actually not a whole lot of people are. But Sony is trying to make the idea of reading books on an electronic device a little easier with a tweak to its Reader product.
Thursday, the company will provide a software update to the product. It will allows the device to display books that are encoded in a format that is already being used by several large book publishers.
Until now, the only books that could be "read" on Sony's Reader are those what are available from Sony's own online bookstore.
A Sony official says the company hopes that people will take a second look at its device. Amazon has a similar e-book reader called the Kindle. It, too, is tied to its own online store.
