Can a mouse really help kill a New York City rat? In the real world, no way. But in the world of cyberspace? It's a chance officials in the Big Apple are willing to take.
The New York City Health Department is launching what it calls its Enhanced Rodent Control Program. Rat inspectors will use handheld computers to keep tabs on rodent "hot spots."
Where pockets of infestation are found, inspectors will catalog the trouble areas and start requiring property owners to get after the problem.
For now, the program is being implemented in the Bronx.
If it works there, it could be expanded throughout the city.
