INTERNSHIPS AT WNDU-TV
Internships at WNDU-TV are designed to enhance students’ skills and knowledge about the broadcasting industry and provide valuable work experiences in a professional setting.
Internships are available in the following departments:
News Producer, Reporter, Photojournalist, Weather or Sports
Students will work with staff to learn the many facets of the news business. Students will assist with writing and producing newscasts, join reporters and photographers on shoots for stories, work with the weather staff to create the weather portion of newscasts, and work with sports staff covering stories and creating the sports segment for the newscasts.
Students will work with staff to learn the “behind-the-scenes” creation of newscasts and other programs. Students will have the opportunity to work with Directors, Audio and camera operators to learn how a newscast is put on the air. There may also be opportunities to work on other programs.
Students will work with staff to learn the process of creating graphics for newscasts and commercials.
Students will work with staff to learn the process of creating successful promotional and marketing campaigns. Students may be asked to be involved in community relations projects such as Toys for Tots or the Pack-a-Backpack drive.
Individual must be a college student and have taken some journalism classes, be pursuing a degree in journalism, communication, graphic design or another related field.
Students will be required to complete an Internship Application, provide a copy of current transcripts, and a letter from their advisor. The letter must state that the student will receive college credit for the internship. Students will also be required to successfully complete a pre-internship drug screen.
WNDU-TV has a business casual dress code. Shorts and sandals are not allowed. It is preferred that students not wear blue jeans if they will be in an area with public contact.<
