Originally from Michiana, David Harker has returned to bring his expertise to 16 Morning News.
David Harker is happy to return to Michiana as the morning meteorologist on 16 Morning News. Being from Mishawaka, David is no stranger to the changes in weather Mother Nature brings to The Midwest. David has had a love for weather since he was a young child, and was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a meteorologist in December 2006 when he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with emphasis in Meteorology and Climatology from Ball State University.
While at Ball State in 2005, David, along with 14 other students, traveled to The Great Plains in search of severe weather and tornadoes; his group was lucky enough to see 11 tornadoes that summer. He was also a part of Newslink Indiana, a student run news organization at Ball State, where he produced week night weathercasts for WIPB in Muncie.
David moved from his home in Mishawaka to KAVU-TV in Victoria, Texas in July of 2007, where he spent 3 years forecasting the heat and hurricanes of South Texas. He also was in the thicket of Hurricane Ike, as it bore down on Galveston, Texas in 2008. In November 2010, David made his track back to The Midwest as an on air meteorologist at WILX-TV in Lansing, Michigan.
David enjoys camping, barbequing, canoeing, and auto racing among other free time activities. Feel free to drop him a line and give him a friendly hello.
