Frank Waugh comes to WNDU from the state of Kansas. Growing up in The Sunflower State it is easy to see why weather captured Frank’s interest. At the early age of five, Frank remembers taking shelter as 100 mile an hour straight line winds ripped through his home town. During high school Frank took a video production class and found that he also enjoyed broadcasting. In meteorology Frank found the perfect blend of science and communication.
Frank attended college at the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science. During his time in college he had the opportunity to get an early start in his broadcasting career. Frank worked as the weekend morning meteorologist at KSNW in Wichita, Kansas. He later went on to work at KSNT in Topeka, Kansas as the weekend meteorologist. While at KSNT, Frank earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society. The CBM is the highest level of certification from the AMS, and involves academic requirements, on-air performance, a rigorous examination, and continuing education. Frank earned this designation at the age of 23, making him one of the youngest to ever receive the designation.
Frank enjoys the outdoors and loves fly fishing, kayaking, and disk golf. Frank and his wife enjoy traveling, eating good food, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. They also enjoy taking frequent road trips throughout Michiana.
