At WNDU, we affectionately refer to Maureen McFadden as Michiana's "Ultimate Working Mom". Balancing the demands of a big family and successful career can be a daunting task, but Maureen manages to keep everything in perspective. While entirely devoted to family and friends, she remains a consummate professional, talented journalist and tireless community volunteer. It is precisely this dedication to family, friends and community that has no doubt helped make her Michiana's most popular news anchor.
No other television journalist comes close to matching Maureen's experience as a local news anchor. She has served at the NewsCenter 16 anchor desk since October, 1983. Maureen shares the anchor desk with colleague and brother Terry McFadden for the evening (5:00/6:00pm) and late (11:00pm) editions of NewsCenter16.
Maureen joined The WNDU Stations as a radio newscaster, and soon after, she was reporting for NewsCenter 16. For a time, she produced and anchored the weekend editions of NewsCenter 16 in addition to her duties as general assignment reporter during the week.
As Michiana's most-experienced news anchor, Maureen has covered a wide variety of assignments and stories for NewsCenter 16 -- more than any other local television journalist. Among the notable figures she has personally interviewed are syndicated columnist and author, Jack Anderson, comedian and talk show host Jay Leno and the late Warren Burger, former Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Maureen is the first place winner of two prestigious 1999 Indiana Associated Press Awards for her series "Amazing Grace." In the series, she and photographer Don Schoenfeld chronicled a Michiana couple's successful adoption of a baby girl from China.
In November 2007, a medical series, documented by Maureen and Photographer Russ Hnatusko called Rewiring the Brain won an Emmy Award from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Arts & Sciences. They also won a First Place 2007 Indiana Associated Press Award for Best News Series, along with a 2007 Edward R. Murrow Regional Award under “Feature Hard News” for the same piece.

A life-long resident of Michiana, Maureen takes great pride in being an active participant in the community. She has volunteered her time and talent to many worthwhile organizations and served on various not-for-profit community boards and committees like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Logan Center, the Junior League and the St. Joseph County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders organization.
Maureen is a graduate of South Bend's St. Joseph's High School and received her bachelor's degree in speech and communications from Saint Mary's College. She and her husband, Jim, have three boys and live in Granger.
