Woman whose photo portrayed Te'o fake girlfriend speaks

The woman whose photo became the face of Manti Te'o fake girlfriend is speaking out for the first time.

Twenty three year old Diane O'Meara says a photo of her was pulled from her Facebook page and used as the fictitious Lennay Kekua, the alleged girlfriend of Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.

“I've never met Manti Te'o in my entire life. I've never spoken with him. I've never exchanged words, tweets,” O’Meara told NBC’s Miguel Almaguer.

Omera, a LA marketing executive said until last week, she didn't even know who Te'o was.

She says former high school classmate Rohaiah Tuiasosopo, the alleged perpetrator of the hoax, not only confessed to stealing her facebook photos, but also apologized for using the image in the prank.

The past five years he has literally been stalking my facebook and stealing my photos,” O’Meara explains.

There was one photo that gave the Kekua identity more validity because it was not posted on a Facebook page and showed the woman in the photo holding a poster with the letters MSMK -- part of Kekua's Twitter name.

O'Meara said that Tuiasosopo got her to send him that photo by telling her that it was for slideshow to comfort a cousin that had been in a serious car crash.

"He went as far as sending me a photo of his cousin with head trauma bandages in the hospital with him," O'Meara said. "Out of the kindness of my heart, I thought I was just comforting someone that I knew of."

Tuiasosopo hasn't responded to multiple calls for comment from NBC news.

O'Meara said that she has been in a committed relationship for five years and seeing her face connected to this story bring her feeling of anger and confusion.

Te'o meanwhile insists he was not aware of the prank and like O'Meara claims he is a victim of the prank.
