Top Irish recruit Shepard withdraws from classes and leaves Notre Dame

Notre Dame freshman defensive back Tee Shepard has withdrawn from all of his classes and returned home to California.

The university announced Thursday that he is no longer enrolled at the University of Notre Dame.

Shepard has returned to his home in Fresno, Calif.

Coach Brian Kelly said of his withdrawal, “Tee is a special person and it’s unfortunate it didn’t work out here. Everyone at Notre Dame wishes him all the best in the future.”

Shepard was a highly talented and sought after recruit, who was rated as a four-star prospect by www.rivals.com.

There is no word yet on why he left Notre Dame.
