Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he could have predicted two months ago that his Seminoles would end up facing Notre Dame in the Champs Sports Bowl.
He says that doesn't take away the excitement from the matchup, which will take place December 29th at 5:30 in Orlando.
"We're playing in a great venue, great bowl, a great town, a great matchup," Fisher said. "We're going to get a lot of attention---stadium is already sold out, a big deal. We've very fortunate, very glad to be here and look forward to the opportunity."
Notre Dame and Florida State are both 8-4 on the season. Both teams expected to be a lot better however, with The Seminoles ranked as a pre-season top five team.
But Fisher says he's still proud of the way his guys have developed over the year and sees the game against the Irish as yet another chance to prove how far this team has come.
Florida State boasts one of the best defenses in the country.
