The stage is set. After all the talk and all the hype, game day is finally here.
Notre Dame and Michigan have a storied past, but part of that story comes to a close on Saturday evening as the teams face each other in Ann Arbor for the last time in the foreseeable future.
There has been a little back-and-forth between Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly and Michigan coach Brady Hoke in the week leading up to Saturday’s matchup that has only added fuel to the fire.
Four months ago, Hoke said that Notre Dame was “chickening out” by not renewing the series with Michigan. Kelly followed that up this week by saying that he didn’t see the Michigan game as a “traditional” Notre Dame rivalry game.
Add all that onto the usual hype that comes with this game, and you have one of the most anticipated games in recent memory.
"I think there's a lot more hype around this game than there was two years ago with it being the last meeting in who knows how long," Notre Dame receiver TJ Jones said.
Notre Dame won last year’s meeting in South Bend, but the Wolverines came out on top in that epic comeback two years ago at the Big House.
NewsCenter16’s Jeff Jeffers and Angelo Di Carlo have a full preview of the game, as well as continuing coverage throughout the evening.
Tonight’s game is at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
