Notre Dame to honor late student manager for rest of the season

The Notre Dame football team will honor their late student manager Xavier Murphy with a decal on its helmet this weekend.

The green shamrock sticker features a black "X" in it and the decal will be adorned on the gold helmets for the remainder of the 2011 season.

Murphy was a senior manager for the football team in 2010 and was an intern with the team this year. He lost his battle with leukemia on October 11th.

A moment of silence will occur prior to the Navy game on Oct. 29.

The Navy game was chosen because it will be Xavier's 23rd birthday and Xavier's family be in attendance for the game.

Zahm Hall, the former residence hall of Xavier, is planning a fundraiser the weekend of the Navy game.
