After working as the Notre Dame Leprechaun covering women's basketball and soccer for the past season, Bryce Burton is getting a promotion.
Burton withstood the challenge of six other candidates to be named to Notre Dame's Gold Squad, making him the Irish Leprechaun for football and men's basketball next season, which will mark his senior year.
Notre Dame held extensive tryouts in the Pit at the Joyce Center on Friday with a panel of judges who reviewed each contender in various categories.
Burton takes the reigns as the varsity Leprechaun from Mike George, who will graduate in May and already has a job waiting for him as an engineer.
Notre Dame has yet to announce who take Burton's spot as the Blue Squad Leprechaun covering women's basketball and soccer.
