Notre Dame has new restrictions on bags allowed in the stadium

South Bend, Ind. As you gear up to cheer on the boys in blue and gold, don't forget about the university's new restrictions on what you can and can't bring inside the stadium.

Beginning with Saturday's game, Irish fans will be prohibited from taking large bags, totes, duffels and backpacks beyond the gate.

Smaller bags like purses will be allowed, but will be inspected by trained security personnel, as will blankets, coats, ponchos and other similar items.

The new measures were being considered before the Boston Marathon bombings occurred. But stadium security officials say the gravity of that event made the added restrictions all the more necessary.
